|| English 146EL: Electronic Literature || Final Project
Any text is constructed as a mosaic of quotations; any text is the absorption and transformation of another. The notion of intertextuality replaces that of intersubjectivity, and poetic language is read as at least double.
"Word, Dialogue and the Novel," Julia Kristeva |
. . .
Texts inform, subvert, change one another. They are neither singular nor self-contained, but plural and forever in flux. This is their way.
We draw constantly from the words and ideas of others. They inform our being and intellect. This electronic text attempts to demonstrate, at an extreme level, how intertextuality permeates us as readers and as writers. With each attempt, you will create a unique text. Drawn from the words of novelists, poets, essayists, and hypertext writers - diverse in space and time - these stories generate new meaning. In an age of rampant recycling, re-use, plagiarism, data-mining, and identity theft, we bring you The Effect of Text.
